The ring around the outside makes it easy for the dog to carry but also stops the toy from rolling. My dog’s food didn’t come out very easily and he would get frustrated while trying to learn how to use the toy, so I cut one of the rubber flaps on both sides making it a little easier for him. This might be a little large for smaller dogs.
