It relies solely on the heat of the sun for energy. That is why you need to place it in an open or semi-open space. However, if you really need to use it indoors, you can just attach 3 AA batteries as an alternative source of power. Remember that it should get at least 4 hours of sun exposure every day. This bird repeller has a motion sensor. The sensor signals the apparatus that a bird is nearby so the device releases ultrasonic sounds. It also has four mounting holes for your convenience. The device comes with mounting screws already. It can be mounted in ground with the provided spike, or hang on objects such as trees, fences and walls.

All of the rest in that row remain in tact. I have watched the deer walk up to there and just turn and walk away. I do suggest taking it inside during heavy rains. I have one that has water in it and the sound is funny. The lights still work. The rest are working fantastic and I am very pleased.
