My 8yo wrote a report on Tesla and included this in his diorama. His class loved it and it was easy and safe for him to use.

    This is an AWESOME PRODUCT!
I must admit that I was skeptical when I bought this device. Given the low price, simple appearance, and being powered by a 5v DC input, I had painfully low expectations of this product, but I was WRONG!!!
When I opened the box, it was just as described. When I plugged in the USB connection, and it didn’t do something cRaZy, it made me happy. I tried the little LED’s that come with the kit. They worked fine, but so what.
Then on a lark, I decided to swing a standard kitchen florescent light tube past the tiny 5vDC Tesla Coil...HOLY SH*T!!! As soon as it passed within a few inches of the tiny coil...it immediately lit up like a real life Light Saber from Star Wars!!!
I know that’s what Tesla Coils DO. I built one in high school. But I had zero expectation that a tiny coil like this one, only powered by a 5vDC input, would have the power to fully drive a full sized bulb!!! Call me convinced!!!
What other tricks do you suggest for a tiny coil like this?

It worked great... I used a USB hub to power it.. It should works for any USB port.
It lit up the LED and an energy saving bulb (13w) as shown in my video

The kit is easy to assemble. The Tesla module worked right away. The resonance frequency is 3.76 MHz (amateur radio band). The spark at the top of the coil is very small (like a dot). In daylight you have to look well, that you see something. Current consumption approx. 600mA at 20 Volt. Must be careful that the power supply tolerates the high frequency. Instruction provided is in Chinese and unusable. The placement plan with layout is faded in the instruction. Else beautiful toys. Heat sinks get quite hot.
