I was contemplating for the longest time if I should get the Switchbot Curtain. I can only regret not getting this earlier! The ease of making your curtain smart is just 1 minute is simply amazing. All you need is fix the attachment onto your curtain rail and voila! I was previously considering getting a whole new set of smart curtain with new rails, drill holes for the motor .... imagine going through those unnecessary troubles!
The app is super for allowing many types of configurations by opening the curtain either from left or right. You can set it open every morning 7am if you like. Totally customizable! It is not as loud as another review I read about.

I was very curious to try these but skeptical, especially because we wanted to put them in our bedroom, and people said even the second generation was kind of noisy. They have worked far better than I could’ve imagined. Really easy to set up.
They have been much more useful than I anticipated. I felt a little silly about automating curtains, but it really has made a big difference. Our bedroom curtains are not that accessible and now it is no bother to get them open first thing every morning and closed at night. It was easy to set up with Alexa. We have a time schedule and also frequently use the voice command. Works flawlessly in both cases.
Yes, they make a bit of a noise while opening and closing, but we close our curtains before we go to bed and open them after we’re out of bed so cares if they’re a bit noisy when we’re already awake?
This is one of those automation projects that has worked out way better than I had anticipated.

My wife said it's one of the best gift's I've given her. I installed it in a picture window above our bed without her knowing, and surprised her with it. The curtain we use is a little difficult to reach, so automatically opening it was an awesome surprise for her. It's a south facing window, so we get a lot more light from that window with the curtain open.
I did have some hiccups with calibrating the bot because it's a little bit of a difficult curtain. I rigged a clear bumper on one side to keep the bot from getting stuck on the curtain rod end, and that took care of the calibration issue.

READ THIS! - If you got issues with a telescoping curtain rod and the Switchbot going over it or slowly drifting over time.Mine would slowly stop closing the curtains all the way because the bump would make it lose a little distance each pass. My curtain rods are bronze colored but I can live with it looking white
Overall the device works. There's a bit of a delay from when I tell Alexa to open/close the curtains (like 3-5 seconds). Wish it was a little more quieter but not much you can do about that. Do note if you want to use this with Alexa/Google Home, you will need the Switchbot Mini Hub.

Very happy with this product. Work seamlessly with the app and hub to combine with Alex. Tech wise is great! But it has some hard time passing the step of extension rod. Even though there is a bridge sticker in the box to fix that, but it’s really an unpleasant look applying that on the rod. It only comes in steal colors, but I have a gold rod. Also there are a lot of wrinkles after apply the bridge sticker. Just not perfect. Hence the 4 stars

I do not have telescoping curtain rods so I didn't need to worry about it going over the connection ( my curtain rods are ⅛ inch black steel pipes from the home improvement store) the will cut them to any size you want. I highly recommend!!

But this products design and technology better than other brands. Plus customer service is always behind you! Whenever you need real quick care of your problems!
Tips: I recommend solar panels and you don’t need care about it charging anymore…
