I don't know how it does it, but this has kept away any bugs from my room. I live in a dorm with ground level access and so far, my room is the only room that has had no reports of spiders or bugs. The sound is almost i detectable, but if you're up close to it you can hear it. It is pretty much invisible and inaudible. You won't even know it's there.
