Once installed, you don't even have to to unlock the lock part. Just pull the shoe flap, and your foot slips in easily. I am wearing them on my Merrell MOAB Ventilator shoes. and trust me because I work in wildlife and have to trek a lot through rocky and muddy terrain. Quality is top notch and the fit is super dependable. I can't imagine shoes without lock laces now.
