   Perfect for my intended use - keeping a new puppy off our carpeted floors. I intentionally chose this gate because it appeared easy to operate, and I wanted my kids to be able to open/close it themselves. Indeed, even my 3 year old figured out how to open it in 2 days. So, if you're thinking of a gate for child safety, this gate would not be recommended- -unless you have a crawling infant you need to contain. However, for pet containment this gate is awesome! Closes automatically (eliminating the chance of the kids forgetting to close it). The gate opening is narrow, and it does have a bottom 'bar' that you need to step over when going through the gate, but as long as you put the gate at ground level the bar is only about 1.25 inches tall to step over. I just mention that since it could potentially be an issue for some folks with a disability.

   These gates are a wonderful addition to our home. We have used the wooden step over gates for a very long time. I was just too cheap to make it happen. I finally did plenty of research, compared products, and 2 weeks later bit the bullet and purchased two of these Safety 1st gates. I was delighted. The gates are easy to install. Now, the installation video is all rainbows and unicorns...and a bit false in how easy it is to install, but the reality was still simple. The gate is sturdy. Now my gates don't turn from red to green when they are tight enough so I had to guess but it is not rocket science (astrophysics? chaos theory?)...anyway...easy to install, arrived quickly, works like a charm, a perfect solution for our pet needs.

   It is very easy to install the gates. We bought two and both were equal quality. We didn’t use the extenders for one of them because it was able to fit without them. Instructions are easy to follow. The gate itself it easy to unlock and it swings back into place with no problem. My daughter is currently at the stage where she uses things to pull herself up and the gates are able to hold up, absolutely no wiggle.

   This gate is awesome! I should clarify that I've only had them (I bought 2) for a couple of days, but I'm already loving them. They are so easy to install. (I didn't have to use the extensions, so I can't speak to that.) It took about 5 minutes to install one, and the directions were great. I have 3 small dogs, and I was really worried about our one little escape artist getting through, but there's really no way that he can. (Ha!) If you follow the instructions, the gate will open and close easily, and it will lock in place. I don't think the locking 'click' is all that loud, so I'm not sure what other people are talking about. The tension holds the gate in place very securely. No tools needed! The only thing that will take some getting used to is the bar across the bottom and remembering to step over it, but that's very minor. I highly recommend this gate!

   I bought two of these for each entry to my kitchen, where I could contain a new 9 week old puppy as we started work on house training. She’s now 16 weeks old and 30# (and almost house trained!) and the gates have worked far better than expected. Stay in place, easy in and out and generally indestructible. Of all the new dog gear I got, these gates have been the most useful! Highly recommend.

   We needed to gate the pets off from the front of the house. Since it is also the entrance to the work areas, a door that had to be removed each time would not only be inconvenient, but also hard on the wall. Love the gate feature. The only drawback is the piece on the floor, necessary, but have stubbed my toe a couple of times. The convenience is definitely worth an occasional sore toe.

Best feature is that the door closes automatically on its own! (However, this was not helpful when bringing in groceries). Comes with two separate extensions. We only needed to use one since our door measures 29". This was great for our family pet and our toddlers as well. Would definitely recommend this purchase!
