   I'm an engineer and when this thing arrived, I let it sit on my desk for a few days. There were more than a couple of steps in the instructions and the device itself did not make it obvious how it worked so I wanted a little time to patiently figure it out. When at last I read the instructions and installed it, I was amazed at how clever it is and how well it works. I bought it for an exterior door on my house that temporarily isn;t closing properly (wood is a little warped from recent rains) so it provides peace of mind that the house is all locked up at night. Once that door is fixed, this will come with me on my travels. Only wish there were other color options than red. White would be a great choice so it is not as obvious when installed.

   Super simple to use and to place/remove. There are a few door latch types with which this device doesn't work (seek out specification descriptions online--I don't know the terminology well enough to be able to reliably share in simple/concise terms which types specifically), but seems to be the case that it works with about 95% of US/North American residential door latches, and I'd say in our experience, about 65% of hotel doors. We stay at mid to upper range places, and it is in the better/newer places where the latches are more modern and this version of Addalock seems not to fit/work. Anyhow, very much recommend for quality, basic add-on home and travel security purposes. We are happy with ours.

   I got this product because my wife and I live in an apartment where the maintenance staff enters without an adequate heads up. I read the instructions for literally 2 minutes and installed it with no problem. I didn't even show my wife the instructions..i just told her what to do and she had it on in 2 minutes. Before she put it on, I stepped outside and when she gave the go ahead, I tried to open the door. I am a 225 pound man and I gave the door a considerable amount of force, and it would not open. And by the way, we of course had the deadbolt unlocked.

   I originally bought this for myself but it did not fit my door as it jams when it rains. Went to visit a friend who had recently had a break in and thought maybe she could use it. I’m so glad I did! We tried it out on her door and it was a fit! Finally she felt comfortable in her home again since this made it very difficult for anyone to get in. I would suggest it.    I've been doing a lot of traveling for work lately. I take the standard precautions like locking the deadbolt and using the security latch. But I've seen some recent videos on how easy it is to bypass these measures. So I decided to give the Addalock a try. I had the opportunity to give it a try this past week. It worked wonderful. It seems very sturdy. I like how the wedge shape of the red part causes it to fit tight against the door. It is also engineered nicely so that the 2 pieces nest together snugly and take just a little space in my luggage.

   I was staying in a motel by myself a few weeks back and didn't sleep well at all because I thought someone was trying my door knob. The motel didn't have a separate deadbolt or a chain on the door..... The next morning in the snow I saw foot prints leading to my door and then walking past. Were my fears real? Or was it just coincidence. Who knows. All I know is that if I had this lock with me I would have slept just fine. Now I take it with me on every trip, just in case I feel like I need a little extra security.

   I bought this to quiet my nerves over traveling. It was easy to install and take down, a concern of mine, and I felt better about locking my door at night. It's important to note that it is quite heavy. I put it in my checked luggage because I didn't want it accidentally mistaken for a weapon in a carry-on. I had no problems with it in my checked luggage. I'll bring this with me on every trip from now on.

   As someone who was staying home alone, I had stupidly decided to watch a horror movie on my own. I was feeling uneasy and then remembered that I had purchased this for some up-coming trips (they got cancelled, yay for Covid) that I would be taking with friends. I wound up installing it on my front door, for some semblance of peace of mind and after fussing with it for a few minutes to see if I could dislodge it one way or another, I'm very proud to say that the door did not budge whatsoever. Will likely purchase for any friends/coworkers that will be traveling in the near future.

   Great for what it is. I am using it on my bedroom door (which has no lock built in). If evil-doers get through my main apartment door locks at night, they will definitely wake me when they try to bash into my bedroom with this lock on it, giving me time to prepare and aim my Walther PPK. No lock is a guarantee that determined strong attackers will not be able to force themselves through a door, but for this price you get a good quality lock. I find it easy to use. Also, while I trust my apartment management, I see no reason for them to be able to get into my bedroom on their own unless I let them in.
