   This thing is GREAT! It's actually saved me a few times already when maintenance tried to come into my apartment to do repairs when I did not give them permission to enter and asked to be home when they did the work. I ask them to wear booties when they come in, but when they come by themselves, they never do and always drag leaves and whatnot all over my carpet. Other than for that use case, I feel very safe with this in my door and sleep better at night knowing that if someone wants to come in, they'll need to make a lot of noise breaking the window or knocking the door off the hinges. That will give me time to wipe the sleep out of my eyes so I can properly defend myself.

   This is the second Addalock lock I have purchased. The first one I bought on QVC years ago. I used it on a garage side door. You could not get that door open once the lock was in place. I liked that the lock was portable too—no drilling, no messing up a door with another lock. I had forgotten about the lock until recently when a security need arose. I checked Amazon to see if it was available there and was pleased to see they sold the authentic Addalock. I first stuck a quarter in the house door by the door handle to ensure the door was “eligible.” It was a candidate for the Addalock! Once I received the lock, I did have some additional questions and reached out to the Addalock distributor. They responded right away and resolved my questions with easy steps for me to follow. I felt the solid customer service reflected the solid reputation of the Addalock lock, the real Addalock—excellent service from a small company and not a huge corporation.    We used this to secure our college daughter's back patio door at her rented town house which was easy to pop open as the door didn't have a great seal. Made for use with hotel doors that have a small gap to allow the device to be inserted between the door and the jam. Once installed (which is really very easy) then there is NO opening the door from the outside even if you have key! Will give you piece of mind for sure.

   It is well made and very easy to use. At first, it feels awkward to put on and take off the door. But after a week of using it, we all became comfortable with it. It provides exactly the little extra assurance while we are home that someone will not be able to open the door just by picking our keyed lock from the outside. Our door at our apartment doesn't have a second blind deadbolt so if you could pick the lock or had a key, you could enter.

   I bought this out of curiosity; I didn't really expect much... but it works great! I was planning to move from a house (where I have chains installed on the doors) to an apartment where I was concerned the landlord would not want any hardware installed on the doors. I was also concerned about other people having keys, as is always a possibility in an apartment situation. So I bought one of these to try and I was really surprised how well it works. Obviously I did not try to forcefully open the door because I did not want to cause any damage, so I don't know how this holds up to any amount of force. But the door won't open normally from the outside or inside. (I don't have small children anymore, but I'd image this would be good for keeping them from opening the doors and wandering outside without supervision.) The best part is there's no damage to the door or the frame. When it 's removed, there's no sign it was ever there.

   This thing brought me so much peace of mind. My graduate school has two campuses. When students have to take an intensive class on another campus there is a list of people who are willing to host them for free. I was staying with a woman whom I did not know and even though she seemed very nice, there was a man who was living there that I did not meet and he was not her husband. I still don't know who he was and it doesn't really matter - except that I could not sleep the first time I stayed there because there was no lock on the door. After I got this it made my stays there so pleasant and I actually got some sleep! We take this with us when we are staying in a hotel too and it is just that added piece of security that makes us feel a bit safer. This is a great invention and super easy to use once you get the hang of it!

   As long as the lock is standard, this works perfectly. I have used it in US hotels and even my own home. Unfortunately, I couldn't use it as much as I wanted in airbnbs and hotels in Europe since the locks were not standard size and sometimes the lock was too close to the wall. But when I could use it, I felt much safer. My advice...bring this for sure on your travels, and perhaps bring a wedge for the bottom of the door in case this doesn't work.

   i bought this for travel security but used it recently to keep a 3 year old from escaping the house. locks doors that open inwards if they have a metal strike plate recessed into the doorjamb. you insert a metal piece that sits in the strike recess, close the door, slide the plastic piece grooves over studs on the metal piece and it blocks the door from opening. takes about 30 seconds after the first use. 5 seconds to remove. my clever grandson couldn't figure it out and remained safely inside. would work equally well in a hotel room or rental condo, etc. i liked it so well i bought another. came in a nice cloth pouch with instructions. unless you made an effort it would be hard to damage it.
