   I got this to help my get rope on some big trees. You could use it for climbing as well as long as you know what you are doing. I do not and mostly used it to get rope and things from one point to another on trees. This thing is kind of heavy which is a good thing. It feels secure and I haven't had any issues with it. I don't know if you can use this for rock climbing or not for regular house usage on your big trees this thing will do the trick.

The weight is good for getting some momentum going, in order to get some height on the throw. It holds a good amount of weight. My adult son has climbed on the rope attached to it with no problems.    I wish I had this Grappling Hook. I had never thought about this before, but it's a great tool for camping or hiking. This Grappling Hook is very strong, but smaller and lighter than I was imagining. Works wonder if you've got to toss the rope up into a tree to pull your food box above the bears. I'm sure I'll find many other uses for this survival hook. I love it. It's the tool I didn't know I needed but I'm sure glad I've got it in my pack now. Recommended.

   This is a very sturdy metal hook. It's not so much grappling in the sense that it can pull you up (I'm sure it can do that, but I'm not interested in trying) but rather what you can pull toward you. In that regard, by tying a rope onto it, you can use it to grapple all sorts of foliage and, with a good yank, pull those pesky branches down.

   It certainly is! It is heavy-duty stainless steel. It folds up for storage, and comes with a sturdy carabiner clip to which you could tie your rope. Be a little careful handling it – the teeth are sharp! That’s what you want if you’re using this to throw over a branch, for example, for climbing.
   
   I got this to use as a second anchor for my boat. I can throw the main anchor off the bow, then either rope this and toss it ashore, or carry it in and secure it there with a couple of rocks. It serves as a second anchor underwater as well to keep the boat from spinning. On a shoreline where the brush is heavy, I can toss it into the vegetation and secure the boat to it. Just remember before you make the toss --- you do have to retrieve it!
   
   It’s compact, nicely machined, foldable, and with a loadable weight of more than 700 lbs, more than enough for most applications.

I used it at my parents farm over the weekend to clear out some brush piles for burning I put a chain on it and just threw it in rush piles and. The Gripping strength was awesome it made a hard days work much easier clearing out and straight up around our out buildings and Barns
