It really does work if you read directions in the product details. My grandson loves these homemade chips. I use a mandolin for making consistent thin slices. The chips will not be hard/dried out/crisps like bag chips but the edges will crisp up once cooled. Season chips before you put in microwave. I’ve used various white potatoes & seasonings but also make a sweet cinnamon version using sweet potatoes.

We use the chip maker all the time. For best results, we skip every other slot. We slice the potatoes with a mandalin, set them between paper towels and then microwave them. Sweet potatoes are great!!

I looked up making microwave chips on youtube and almost all the videos showed putting potato slices on a plate after brushing them with oil. I just used my mandoline to slice one large russet potato to 1.5 mm slices. I got forty-something slices at 160 calories for the whole potato. I was determined not to add any more calories, so I made up a dry rub BBQ mix to toss the chips in for all the flavor you could want. I put the slices in ice cold water while I mixed up the rub, then dried them thoroughly and lightly tossed them in the mix. For the first batch of 36 chips, I microwaved them for 9 minutes on high. The second batch of about 10 I microwaved for far less time. All the chips came out fantastically good. Dry, crisp, flavorful. Even the ones I didn't add the BBQ coating to were delicious. Glad I got this!

Makes great chips. Easy to use, fast cooking time. I like my chips on the darker, crispy s side, and my husband likes his lighter so this is the perfect solution and no need to buy two different bags of chips. No grease means they're better for us too. No worries about chips going to waste because they got stale either. Make as many or as few as you want fresh!

Do not believe any bad reviews about this product. I don't know they did but they didnt do it right. This product has changed my chip life forever! I do not use added oil and these are the cruchiest chips I have had without oil. Cruchy, tasty and shall I say perfect. I might sound a little too excited but I love chips but I don't like the oil or salt of the store bought ones. I can add all my own flavorings. Onion and garlic pwdr or some vinegar. I'm sold and the price is just right. Enjoy

Be sure to slice potatoes very thin. Season to your liking. Watch while they microwave to make sure that they do not burn. Takes some time to do (the slicing), but a great device. Good for other types of homemade chips too.

I have wanted one of these since I saw it online. I like the size and the fact that it is lightweight. I cannot wait to give it a try. I gave it a try nut the chips were not as crisp as I thought they should be. Tried apples and potatoes

Microwave potato chips don't taste the same as commercial potato chips, but this is fun to use to make a crispy and - if you believe as I do that potatoes are nutritious - healthy snack. I found that, if I cooked the chips until they were well done, they puffed up and deformed in such a way that they were difficult to remove from the holder. This is an issue I imagine all holders like this would have. My fix is to remove the chips from the holder just before they are done and then put them flat on a plate to finish the cooking. (If the initial cooking is on a plate, the chips tend to get stuck to the plate and/or stuck to each other.) I can probably improve the end result as I keep experimenting.

follow the directions and you get great potato chips. It is easy to get great flavors. I slice the potato and then lightly flovor with salt, seasoning salt, or garlic salt for great taste. Make sure to use 50% power and remove and set on counter between heating. It lets the steam dry off for crispier chips. It usually takes two heatings at 5 minutes.
