I've been in the market for a new chess board. I did some research on "large chess boards" and "large chess pieces", and i settled on taking a chance on this particular one. I will not lie, I was worried the entire time that once received I wasn't going to like it. I thought it would be smaller than what I had hoped for and I thought that it was going to be made of poor quality. I received my board in 2 days after I was advised that it would take 5 days. (GREAT JOB AMAZON!!!). I could not wait to open it and even then I felt a little scared because I didn't know what to expect. But even before I opened it, the reported 5 pounds was felt almost immediately. I then became extremely excited. I wanted a heavier board. Opened up the box to find a really secured and tightly wrapped product. Once opened, I immediately saw the beautiful craftsmanship of the board. Beautifully engraved and stained. Before I took the pieces out, I wanted to know where it was made.

I feel the description of the product is accurate. The pieces are light, not weighted. The hinges are small but they are effective. The storage area with green felt is a sufficient way to store the pieces. If they can survive shipping and not sustain any damage I'm pretty sure they can survive in my house sitting on a shelf. The visual appeal is what sets it apart from many others. There are nice details on the pieces and the board that make them stand out. It is great for game play and also as a show piece in the house if you so choose.
