Something important to know when getting this, is there will be A LOT of bubbles at first when you put the water in and it won't seem to work but don't worry! (I think it took about either a few days or a week) With time it will adjust, the bubbles will start to disappear, and it will start to work just fine and boy does it work really well. It's lasted about 3 years now and still is live and peppy. I'm very happy to of bought this, it adds a nice calming atmosphere to the room.

You can also give it a bit of a gentle shake to get it going faster then the jellies will start to slowly float to the bottom. It goes through many colors: yellow, blue, purple, white, pink, red, green. The colors rotate in a slow calming manner that's almost hypnotic to watch.

I read all the reviews before buying this for my son at Christmas. I followed all the instructions to the letter ( had seen one in the RED5 shop with the jellyfish stuck at the top and didn't want this to happen.) The lamp looked amazing, but every day, the jellyfish DID seem to get stuck. However, we were adamant that we'd get it right in the end, so every day, we pushed the jelly fish down and added a little more water. After doing this for about 5 days, something changed, and the jellyfish stopped getting stuck! The lamp has now been placed in my son's bedroom and works wonderfully - no problems and looks fantastic when his light is out. My younger son got the volcano version ( absolutely no problems with that one, if anyone wants a great lamp without the initial hassle ), but he says the jellyfish are better as they look real ( Incidentally, got the jellyfish as a joke - son got stung by one in Ibiza, now he has them as 'pets'!!!).

Worth mentioning, a drop of fairy liquid reduced surface tension and frees air bubbles much easier, as any bubbles cause the jellies to float, and it didn't come with a USB cable as advertised, but if you are techy you can refuse an old USB lead, take the positive and negative wires and solder them onto the terminals on the circuit board. Works perfectly fine, but this will no doubt void your warranty as you will need to make a hole for cable management

The jellyfish move around lovely and we just used tap water. Only thing is that batteries don't last long at all only a day really. I would recommend buying rechargeable batteries with this item.

i bought this as a friend of mine had one,im not sure what other people were expecting but it is directly as described,and was easy to set up first time so im not sure what other people were doing wrong,as for battery operating things if you are going to leave them on for long periods expect to pay out on batteries,there is a plug one availible so they ought to invest in one of those.i think its lovely to watch,just the right size for a night light and does the job :)
