Once you get the legs in, there is a velcro strap around the neck to secure it. Once that was on, there's no shaking it off. The hat also has a strap that I couldn't figure out So I just set it on his head long enough to get a picture. There is a cape that comes with it but I forgot to put it on for the picture. I consider him a larger cat at 15 lbs and he's wearing a medium. Fits perfect! For the price, it was well worth it just for the laughs alone. I might have to get a new one every year, lol.
