   This is an amazing product and worked perfectly for my drill. I had an issue where it kept slipping out of the chuck, and I was using a new drill mind you. But I believe it was because of when I "backed out" the augur, the dirt held on while the drill spun. So just look out for that, may ruin your drill on accident. Other than that. It dug holes surprisingly quickly and with ease. And I'm so glad I got it.

   Was concerned about reviews that talked about stripping the end that goes in the drill and some other comments about quality. I use an old Ryobi 18V battery drill and had no issues using it. I used this to loosen up some rocky soil (soil a few rocks up to baseball size) while planting hydrangeas. The job wasn't hard, but this made it even easier. No, this won't drill through rocks and it would probably would struggle with some clay soils I've seen. But it's not a hydraulically powered tool mounted to a heavy tractor; it's a hand tool. It met and exceeded my expectations. Power tools come to gardening - what could be more fun?!

   This is super simple: it works! We have terrible soil here (new house with a lot of fill in our front yard) so digging here with a shovel can be almost impossible. It's like digging in a gravel pit. This is not the perfect solution, but that's only because our soil quality is so poor. In my old yard, this would have been fantastic. This can get "stuck" when it hits rocks, but I just pull it out and move it around and it really made planting a lot of flowers and bulbs much easier than trying to dig with a spade.    I bought this auger because I have to install several landscape lightings. The ground is not soft enough to easily stick the light fixture spikes. Hammering the spike is not recommended.. This auger made the task so much easy and faster without damaging the spikes. Next was installing a new mailbox post. I figured this will not drill a 4x4 post but should help along with the post digger and shovel. And wow this auger did help loosen the soil and break rocks loose making it easy for the post digger to get all the soil out. Sure is worth the purchase. Next will be digging a hole for a large telephone pole for the ranch gate. Hope this hold up.

   I’ve used the heck out of this for planting bulbs and shrubs. It causes the drill to get overly used and thus the batteries to die quickly. Not an issue with this tool - cause I have tons of holes ready for bulbs now. So happy with this tool. My dirt was so hard and deeper down, lots of clay. I’ve probably made 50 holes already that I couldn’t imagine having done with a small or large shovel.

   When putting in post holes without a digger of some type, this auger and the next size above it allows a hole to be dug with an electric/battery-powered drill. The small diameter gets the ground loosened and gives instant feedback when encountering obstructions like rocks or concrete. Although not it's intended purpose, it still is my go-to for setting posts for wheel chair hand rails and the first inexpensive tool for starting fence post holes.
