I was a little worried after reading other reviews that the PediPaw was going to be loud and scare my rather skiddish Basset Hound. However I was pleasantly surprised when I turned it on that it is pretty quiet. Has about the same volume level as a toy hair dryer and no where near as loud as a Dremel. Ash (the dog) who is scared to death of having his nails clipped had no problems with me using the Pedipaws nail trimmer on him. It's probably the closest trim he's ever had and is no longer clicking through the kitchen. Very easy for me to use, a little time consuming but no worse than trying to use the nail clippers that the dog does not sit still for. He even laid on his back in my lap for me to do his back paws. If I had to have one complaint I guess it would be that the smell of grinding a dog's nails smells like burnt hair.
