   This was an inexpensive alternative to my rotating sound and light machine where the light aspect just stopped working as expected on two different devices. It may not be as exciting or interesting to my twins, but it has a nice soft glow as a night light and has held up well, and they always always look up at it when I turn it on at night. It is also nice that automatically turns off when it becomes light, in case I forget to unplug it. Hopefully this will extend the life of it and also saves energy.

   Exactly what I expected for the price. My six year old absolutely loved it. He needed help with the assembly but was able to paint it all on his own. One planet broke while putting it together. The center peg fell off and the planet did not stay together firmly. However once it was painted, the paint sealed it together and it’s now fine. Not even a big enough problem to warrant less than five stars, considering the fact that this set was so inexpensive. I’m extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive learning experience for their child.

You know it was not fancy but he worked on it that night (really gave him something to do) he adored it. Well worth the money. I say buy it ...good for a birthday gift or a fill in the time gift.    I purchased this for my 4-year-old granddaughter, but decided she was not quite ready for it. So I waited for her fifth birthday and then brought it out for her inspection. Yes, she had heard about the planets and wanted to put the kit together. So far we have worked on it for two sessions. We assembled it together, and then she painted the sun and the planets in their basic colors. Next, she will paint the details and apply the glow-in-the-dark paint. She has very much enjoyed construction and painting, and comments on the relative smallness of the earth compared to the other planets and the sun. She understands that, so far as we know, only the earth has animal and plant life. Next we will talk about how the planets revolve around the sun and how the earth rotates on its axis, creating day and night. The kit is perfect for illustrating the two movements.
