   I feel terribly for the people who have had a bad experience with this item. I know how frustrating it can be to purchase an item and feel as though you've wasted money. Our experience with this item is quite different. Extremely easy to assemble and works well. My wife has now had this item in her office at work for 1 year and 2 months now and it's running perfect and strong. We've not even had to add any water to it or change the water. It's perfectly clear, the lights work great, the fan works great, and it can be mesmerizing. So many people come to her office to look at and they are amazed at how cool it is. So I you don't want people coming to see it, I wouldn't purchase it. We are buying two more this Christmas for gifts because ours has worked so well.

   Bought this for a gift. The teenager loved it. It was easy to set up with simple instructions in the box. We used almost 1 gallon of distilled water and about 5 drops of dish washing soap. We swished bubbles off the jellyfish using a stirring rod as we introduced them into the tank. We have operated it 4 hours (it turns off automatically) every night for a week and really pleased with it. It is soothing watching the jellyfish dance in the water and the light cycle through all the colors. So far no tentacles tangled in water pump (can't see how this will happen if inlet appears to be covered with foam filter).

   My 8 year old granddaughter saw an almost identical one in a gift shop last summer for well over $100. She talked about it for days during her visit with us. I was thrilled to find it online for less than half the price. We set it up at our house the night before her birthday which was during her Christmas vacation, so she would see it first thing when she woke up. We emptied it for their 5 hour car ride home. My daughter refilled it at her home and said it is working as well as when it was new. It's so awesomely cool, they decided to put it on a shelf in the living room so the entire family can enjoy it.

   I purchased this as a gift for a boy that has a huge interest in sea life. I put it together and ran it before I gifted it in order to make sure it was working and that it was something I would wan tot gift. It was hard for me to actually give it away!    I have purchased five or six of these lamps, mostly, as gifts. They have proven to be very popular. However, the 'jellyfish' have a way of getting caught in the pump at the bottom of the lamp. The pump on one lamp stopped working (as a result). Due to the small hole at the top of the lamps, I have be forced to use a long wooden dowel to free the stuck jellyfish. On one of the lamps, the pump stopped working; lamp was returned.

   I got this for my 75 y/o mother. She’s very hard to buy for, but she absolutely loves this thing! It doesn’t take up a lot of room; has little/no maintenance required; emits just enough light; is a great talking point; and my mother finds it both soothing and entertaining to watch.    Very easy to put together. I used one gallon of distilled water which fills it to the top. Then I added three drops of Dawn dishwasher detergent. Put in the jellyfish and pushed them down to clear the air bubbles with the dull end of a butter knife. They took right off and has been a pleasure to watch since. The four hour auto shutoff is very handy. Bought one for me and one for a gift. The darker the room, the better the show.

The jellyfish move better and stay afloat more if you keep the water fresh. Don't forget to add a couple drops of dish soap!

   I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my dad, who has advanced stage Alzheimer’s disease. It was extremely easy to set up and is beautiful and mesmerizing to watch. He is in the memory care unit of a nursing home where there isn’t much for him to do since he’s lost interest in interacting/talking with people, watching tv, reading, etc. He likes to sit in his recliner and watch the jellyfish swim in this tank. I told him the other day when visiting him I like it so much I might buy one for myself and wouldn’t you know I got notification it was on sale for nearly $40 less than his cost. Maybe it was meant to be!
