Pivot is not too tight and not too loose, and overall device is not too big or too small. Unless you need extreme precision or are spending a lot of money on a Bosch or equivalent digital meter, this is a winner.

   Amazing. I've been doing construction for decades and I don't know I got along without this tool. It makes life so much easier when making cuts, not only for crown molding and corners, but also for framing against twisted lumber. What used to take minutes and many adjustment cuts, now takes seconds.

   This product rocks! It is very high quality and is as accurate as the person who is using it can be. It is a little hard to read fractional degrees, and I had to use a magnifying glass, but it does seem to be very accurate. The first time I used it my miters were dead on! I would recommend this tool to anyone, and yes it is metal, not plastic!
