I used them on a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket and a plain white 2 gallon bucket. The smaller bucket has a bigger curve, so the side flattens out a little when the gate is in place, but it looks and works fine.

My feed bucket is protected from direct rain, but some showers can blow into the bucket. The vents that extend out of the bucket help keep the weather out and the fact that the chickens have to stick their heads into the vents to eat also helps. Feed is expensive so protecting it from the elements as much as possible and the possibility of mold due to humidity is important to me.
